Extract from article The beautiful church at Ranmoor, erected by Mr. J. Newton Mappin, and dedicated to St. John the Evangelist, was consecrated yesterday morning by the Archbishop of York. . . . . . . The bells have been
presented
by Mr. W. Smith, Springfield House. They are eight in number, and weigh
three tons; the tenor is 15cwt. They have been cast by Mr. James
Barwell, Birmingham, and are worked by an ingeniously constructed
machine, by Messrs. Shaw and Sons, Bradford, by which one man can
effectively manage the whole peal. . . .
