Sunday 5th July 1992

  On Sunday, 5th July 1992, Michael Goater was ordained a Deacon at Sheffield Cathedral.

  Michael has been a lay reader at St. John’s, Ranmoor, for 9½ years, and the ringers rang a quarter peal of 1260 Grandsire Triples to mark this occasion.

  As he is now working, as curate, in the parish of St. James, Norton, Sheffield, three ringers from Ranmoor joined three from Norton on Sunday, 12th July, to ring another quarter to welcome him to his new living.

  Michael was able to record some of the ringing from the churchyard until a sudden downpour forced him inside. We send him and his family our best wishes for the future as they move across the City.
